Editor Guide: Categories

All jobs are grouped into 9 different categories. These categories each require different skills. You have an access time and hourly rate unique to each category.

Correction

Image correction requires general enhancements to a photo. These might be colour correction, adjusting the brightness, contrast and exposure or tweaking the colour balance. It could also include replacing or brightening the sky in a photo.

Clipping

The clipping category requires an ability to accurately remove backgrounds from photos of objects or people. It may also require a certain amount of retouching or correction of the original image.

Enhancement

Image enhancement is a mixture of the "Correction" and "Retouching" categories. This may include colour correction, adjusting the brightness, contrast and exposure or tweaking the colour balance. It could also include replacing or brightening the sky in a photo. Alongside this, it also includes skills such as airbrushing skin, removal of spots, changing body shapes, tidying hair and enhancing facial features.

Real Estate

Real estate editing covers the "Correction" category, as well as adding in a few more specific skills. You may need to correct for lens distortion, adjust the perspective in a photo, repair small areas of damage or remove rubbish bins and cars.

Restoration

This encompasses the repair of any kind of damage to a photo. This can include (but isn't limited to!) removal of scratches, tears and dust, replacement of missing areas, fixing water damage and undo-ing fading.

Retouching

Retouching is all about photos of a person or people. It requires includes skills such as airbrushing skin, removal of spots, changing body shapes, tidying hair and enhancing facial features.

Removal

Removal of things from an image, and replacement of the missing area.

Colourisation

Turning a black and white, or monochrome into a full colour image.

Composition

Combining multiple digital images into one
